The Veterans Resource Day

The NYS VBOC, SBDC at Farmingdale, Nassau and Suffolk County Veterans Service Agencies will be hosting a Veterans Resource Day . This FREE event has been specifically developed for all veterans, service disabled veterans, discharging active duty personnel, reservists and the National Guard to provide the resources available to help our Veterans get back to work. The program will include resources and information on Employment resources, Technical assistance for starting or growing an existing a business, Certification programs, Training opportunities, Small Business Management Training, Funding resources & Individual employment issues or concerns. The GOAL of the event is to get all Long Island Veterans, Discharging Active Duty Personnel, Reservists and National Guard working in their own business, employed, or better prepared for employment. Pre-Registration is required.

New York Career Expo March 28th

On Wednesday, March 28th "Women For Hire" will host a Career Expo in New York at the Hilton New York Hotel from 10AM to 2PM. This event will give you the opportunity to talk with other job seekers, hand out business cards, get your resume critiqued for free & attend several seminars. Admission is FREE. Business attire & resumes are required for admittance. There will be an Early Morning Seminar prior to the Career Expo opening. This seminar will be hosted by Good Morning America's Workplace Contibutor & Women For Hire CEO Tory Johnson. Jump start your success by registering for this special session. Space is limited.

Also take part in "Our Mentor Match Program" sponsored by Walmart. All career expo attendees are invited to benefit from a complimentary, one-on-one "speed mentoring" session with accomplished professionals from a range of leading employers. This is your chance to ask questions about balancing work and family, figuring out how to switch careers, and finding the Aha! moment in your job search and career advancement. Ask anything you want during your mini-mentor session! It's another FREE benefit of attending the New York Career Expo. (No pre-registration necessary.)

TODAY is joining forces with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to launch a new initiative: Hiring our Heroes. There are more than 1 million unemployed veterans in America. As service members return from Iraq and Afghanistan during the next five years, hundreds of thousands of more men and women in uniform are leaving active duty. TODAY will broadcast a three-day series in late March on this topic, culminating in free worldwide job fairs for veterans on March 28th. More than 1,500 veterans and military families and 100 companies are expected to participate. Registration is currently open.
