Long Island Career Fair April 30th



The Long Island Career Fair will take place on Thursday, April 30th from 11-2 pm at the Melville Marriott Long Island. You'll meet face-to-face with hiring decision-makers from some of the areas top employers. Dress professionally and bring plenty of resumes, because they're here to hire. Just walk in and start interviewing, it's that simple. You can save time, money and effort interviewing with multiple companies in one day at one location. The Fair is free to high-school students, parents and anyone else interested in higher education. Students can meet one-on-one with admissions counselors to discuss entrance requirements, campus life, application deadlines and majors. Representatives will have brochures, catalogs and other literature to describe their institutions. The Long Island Educational Opportunity Center will be holding Pre-Nurse & Pre-Pharmacy Technician Programs starting March 23rd. These programs introduce students to the basic language, communication & documentation within the Nursing Assistant & the Pharmacy Technician fields. Programs are tuition free. Dress for Success Brookhaven will be presenting a FREE program called "Going Places Network". It is a seminar series for women seeking employment. This 9 week seminar will teach you how to present your personal brand in interviews, customize your resume for different positions & navigate LinkedIn & other social media for job leads & much more. You will also have a chance to work one-on-one with career coaches to build your personal network in a small supportive environment with other women. Home Depot has started hiring 80,000 part-time and seasonal workers ahead of its busiest time of the year. Home Depot is hiring sales associates, cashiers and people to fill online orders. Openings are ideal for retirees and students looking for extra income, as well as veterans transitioning into civilian life. The jobs are part-time and seasonal, though the hours could count towards qualifying for benefits if temporary employees become full time. Home Depot said wages will vary depending on location and individual experience, but a spokesman said the company pays above the average retail rate and minimum wage.
