The NYS VBOC, SBDC at Farmingdale, Nassau and Suffolk County Veterans Service Agencies will be hosting a Veterans Resource Day . This FREE event has been specifically developed for all veterans, service disabled veterans, discharging active duty personnel, reservists and the National Guard to provide the resources available to help our Veterans get back to work. The program will include resources and information on Employment resources, Technical assistance for starting or growing an existing a business, Certification programs, Training opportunities, Small Business Management Training, Funding resources & Individual employment issues or concerns. The GOAL of the event is to get all Long Island Veterans, Discharging Active Duty Personnel, Reservists and National Guard working in their own business, employed, or better prepared for employment. Pre-Registration is required.

TODAY is joining forces with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to launch a new initiative: Hiring our Heroes. There are more than 1 million unemployed veterans in America. As service members return from Iraq and Afghanistan during the next five years, hundreds of thousands of more men and women in uniform are leaving active duty. TODAY will broadcast a three-day series in late March on this topic, culminating in free worldwide job fairs for veterans on March 28th. More than 1,500 veterans and military families and 100 companies are expected to participate. Registration is currently open.
