Long Island Career Fair February 19th

The Long Island Career Fair will take place on Thursday, February 19th from 11-2 pm at the Melville Marriott Long Island. You'll meet face-to-face with hiring decision-makers from some of the areas top employers. Dress professionally and bring plenty of resumes, because they're here to hire. Just walk in and start interviewing, it's that simple. You can save time, money and effort interviewing with multiple companies in one day at one location. Many of these companies have several openings and are eager to meet with you. You're no longer just a piece of paper, you can get right in front of the decision makers attending this event. Admission is FREE. Complimentary on-site parking.

HUFSD Spring 2015 Adult Education Program

All courses may be registered by mail and will be filled in order that forms and checks are received. Mail-in registration must arrive prior to the first class. Citizens Police Academy

Citizens Police Academy ( CPA) is an educational program aimed towards building trust between the police and the community by opening lines of communication.  Students in the CPA will be exposed to a variety of different learning and hands-on-experiences relating to police work.  The program consists of approximately sixteen, 3 hour sessions, held one evening a week.  All participants will have the opportunity to go on a ride along with a Patrol Officer as well as becoming certified in American Heart Association CPR.  Classes begin March 4th.  Additional information and applications can be obtained online at SCCPAAA.ORG or you can call the Academy at (631) 853-7000.

Hofstra University Beginner QuickBooks Certificate Program

Beginner QuickBooks Certificate Program
Learn Record Keeping and more ….
Workshops will be held February 2, 4, 9 & 11, 2015  from 6-9 pm. Learn skills to:

  • Create a new QuickBooks company
  • Modify the preset chart of accounts to suit individual needs
  • Add/edit information to company lists
  • Write QuickBooks checks and assign amounts to specific accounts
  • Work with asset and liability accounts in QuickBooks
  • Enter bills into QuickBooks accounts payable
  • Pay bills
  • Invoice customers
  • Receive payments from customers and make bank deposits
  • Open and use registers for any QuickBooks balance sheet accounts
  • Reconcile a QuickBooks checking and credit card account
  • Track credit card transactions
Basic computer skills are required. Please complete and mail the registration form along with your payment of $275.00. SCCC Manufacturing Class

Suffolk County Community College will offer free classes in Manufacturing, three classes in Soldering, Machining Processing, and Autocad. Classes start January 26th. First come first serve. Details and applications are available at the Huntington Opportunity Resource Center at 1268 New York Ave, Huntington Station and Suffolk County Community College.

Career Couture


CareerCouture is a boutique located at the Suffolk County One-Stop Employment Center that offers individuals proper business attire for upcoming interviews without a charge. With the proper attire, most qualified individuals will have a better opportunity of obtaining their next job. This program serves both men and women in Suffolk County who are registered with the One Stop Employment Center and have a confirmed scheduled job interview. Huntington Opportunity Resource Center

The Town of Huntington Community Development Agency, in partnership with Suffolk County

Department of Labor and the Department of Social Services, provides supportive community services at its recently-launched Huntington Opportunity Resource Center (HORC).  HORC is open Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. in Huntington Station at 1268 New York Avenue. Free assistance is available for both walk-ins and by appointment.  The Huntington Opportunity Resource Center provides resume preparation, helps with job searches, explores career options, provides access to training, gives tips for interview success, job readiness, DSS applications assistance, not-for profit service referrals and fields general human services questions.
