Job Opportunities With NYS Unified Court System

The NYS Unified Court System has announced an upcoming Court Officer exam. Court Officer-Trainee Examination 45-758 is scheduled to be held October 24, 2009 and December 12, 2009 throughout New York State.
The application filing period will begin on May 4, 2009 and continue until July 31, 2009. Applications must be submitted by mail & postmarked no later than July 31, 2009. For more information please visit the NYS Unified Court System website.

Additional 13 Weeks Of Extended Unemployment Benefits

Legislation is pending for an additional 13 weeks of extended benefits. Therefore, if you have exhausted all your regular and emergency benefits, and are still unemployed, you should continue to claim weekly benefits in the usual manner. If the legislation is approved, you will receive payment for weeks claimed that are covered by the legislation. For updates, continue checking the NYS Department of Labor website.

Town of Huntington's Third Annual Job Fair

The Town of Huntington's Third Annual Job Fair will be held on June 10, 2009 from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Harborfields High School on Pulaski Road in Greenlawn. Admission & Parking are FREE and refreshments will be served. Appropriate business attire is suggested. Summer Jobs For Youth

For 40 years, the Suffolk County Department of Labor has run Summer Work Experience Programs. These programs give young people the chance to work and earn their own money.
Young people will be employed near their homes as clerical aides, day care workers, building maintenance workers, etc. in schools, governmental offices, camps and community organizations. For those who like to work outside, we have jobs as recreation workers and conservation workers.



Dates: July 6–August 21, 2009
Salary: $ 7.50/hr
Work Week: 25 hours

Eligibility:
Youth ages 14 to 24
United States Citizen or Eligible Immigrants
Families receiving public assistance and/or food stamps
are automatically eligible for this program

Job Search Support Group for Unemployed

Brentwood Public Library has recently started a job search support group for the unemployed called:



2nd Cup of Coffee Job Club



Members of the club provide each other with support, ideas and encouragement. The club meets every Wednesday from 9:30am to 11am in the Reference Area, First Floor of the Brentwood Public Library and is open to all Suffolk County residents. For additional details, please call 273-7883.
