L.I. Job Fair February 11th

Meet face-to-face with the hiring decision makers from some of the areas top employers on Monday, February 11th from 11-2 pm. The Job Fair will take place at the Melville Marriott. Dress professionally and bring plenty of resumes, because they are there to hire. Just walk in and start interviewing, it's that simple. Long Island Accounting Job Fair

Career Showcase is a Job Fair Company that specializes in Marketing, Human Resources, Customer Service, Banking, Accounting, Retail, and many others. They partner with many fortune 500 companies to help them find the best talent the market has to offer. Companies come to these fairs to interview and hire the BEST of the BEST professionals, account executives and managers. They are open to recent college grads through executive level candidates. Candidates that attend these job fairs are more likely to obtain the career they are looking for than those candidates that just "apply" to job postings.  On February 11th, Long Island will hold it's first "Accounting Job Fair".  It will take place at the Hilton Hotel in Melville at 5 pm.  Be prompt to hear company presentations. Miller Business Mornings

Miller Business Mornings is a free breakfast meeting five times a year. Registration is not required and is open to the public. All meetings take place at Middle Country Public Library in Centereach at 8am in the Community Room.  The next meeting will take place on Friday, February 8th.  The meeting will focus on Social Media, Hype or Reality & will be presented by Matt Stern of The CIO Source. Mr. Stern will review the relatively new field of Social Media & what it means to small business.  From LinkedIn to Facebook to Twitter to Pinterest, he will cover the major uses & dispel the myths of these popular sites.

Wal-Mart Will Hire 100,000 Veterans

 Wal-Mart Stores, the world's largest retailer and the nation's largest private employer, is pledging to hire 100,000 veterans over the next five years. According to the company "the program will begin on Memorial Day and the offer is being extended to any vet who received an honorable discharge from the military within a year of applying for a job.  Most of these jobs will be in Walmart stores and clubs, and some will be in distribution centers and the Home Office."  This initiative will help ease the transition for soldiers returning from deployment.  Click here for more information.
