Home Study Programs for GED
Home Study Program For GED (HSA024)

Join us at the Huntington Public Library Station Branch to learn about a free, at-home study program for adults 21 and over, who would like to prepare for the GED exam, but are unable to attend classes on a regular basis. Certified instructors provide you with assignments to complete at home. Assignments are picked up at the library. Telephone assistance is also available. All courses may be registered by mail and will be filled in order that forms and checks are received. Mail-in registration must arrive prior to the first class. NOTE: UNLESS YOU ARE NOTIFIED OTHERWISE, YOU ARE TO ASSUME THAT YOU ARE REGISTERED AND THAT YOU ARE TO COME TO THE FIRST CLASS MEETING. NO LETTERS OF ACCEPTANCE WILL BE SENT. This exciting course will prepare you for a financially secure retirement by showing you how to determine your retirement income needs and develop a personalized plan to achieve your retirement goals. You will learn how to optimize your investment portfolio and create an asset allocation – pre-retirement and post-retirement. This course will show you how to "flip the switch" on your nest egg to generate an inflation adjusted income stream for life. Additional topics include how to reduce your taxes, protect your assets, provide for health care and preserve your estate. Each participant will receive a 140-page workbook with worksheets, illustrations, and key descriptions designed to reinforce concepts learned during the course. Whether you plan to retire in the next ten years or you are already retired, the information you learn in this course will deliver rewards throughout your life. Workbook fee of $20.00 payable to instructor.

Career Fair March 8th
The Mineola Memorial Library will be holding a Career Fair on Saturday, March 8th from 12-3 pm in the Ann C. Hurley Community Room. Open to all adults & teens (Grades 8-12). You will discover satisfying careers that take 2 years or less of schooling. 2014 Summer Employment Long Island Ducks
The Long Island Ducks will be holding its annual job fair at Bethpage Ballpark on Saturday, March 1st. The team will be accepting applications and interviewing candidates for positions during the 2014 season. These positions include ushers, ticket takers, vendors, merchandise, parking lot attendants, box office assistants, grounds crew and clubhouse assistants. All applicants must be 16 years of age or older. The job fair will be held until 1 p.m., with those in attendance receiving first consideration for employment during the 2014 season. The organization will also be interviewing for exciting opportunities with the team’s promotional crew. Applications will be accepted for on-field host, music coordinator, public address announcer, video board operators, cameramen, team mascot and other game day promotional positions. Centerplate, the food service provider of the Long Island Ducks, will also be interviewing candidates for seasonal interns, stand managers, servers, cashiers, warehouse workers, cooks, dishwashers, vendors and administrative help.
