Construction Apprenticeship Applications Available

The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for Local 1298 of the Road and Heavy Construction Laborers union will begin taking applications for 20 skilled construction craft laborer apprenticeships.  Applications can be obtained in person at Local 1298's office, 1611 Locust Ave. in Bohemia, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays until July 31.  Applications must be submitted by Aug. 3. Applicants must be 18 or older, provide proof of completion of high school or GED courses, have reliable transportation, be physically able to do the work, become a union member and must be legally able to work in the United States.  More information is available by calling 631-218-1376.

Do you know what to expect when you get to college? It may not be exactly what you think it will be. This workshop goes over the unexpected surprises that can occur your first year in college. Learn how to stretch your budget & cook a gourmet meal in a microwave. We will help you prepare to budget your time so that you can make the most of your time at college-both working & playing. Registration required. Registration begins July 6th.

Long Island Career Fair June 25th

Are you looking for a job? Are you tired of sending resumes left and right and never getting an answer? If you are, dress in your best professional clothes, bring resumes and visit our Long Island Career Fair on Monday, June 25th from 11-2 pm at the Melville Marriott Long Island. You will have the opportunity to meet top employers and to interview for several positions during the course of the day, meeting the people who make the hiring decisions.
